I may have been in Tokyo for two days to experience the all-new “Gucci 4 Rooms”, but no schedule can stop me from venturing out into the streets of one of my favourite cities in the world. Jetlag and a cold from Paris Fashion Week are no hurdles. If it is Tokyo, I’m on board.
Tokyo and Gucci seem to have a lot in common. They are vibrant, eclectic, reflective, unpredictable and, to some extent, schizophrenic. It’s one city, but you get so many different sides. It’s one Italian brand, but you get so many different personalities, techniques, textures and colours. The fact that Gucci’s Fall/Winter 2016 campaign was shot in Tokyo just made the relationship official.
It is as we’ve said before – creative director Alessandro Michele has his girl covered wherever she is headed, whether it is a quirky art exhibition in Ginza, a party in an Insta-worthy club or just simply strolling down Tokyo’s little streets. A little black dress that made me feel like Alice in Wonderland in the “Gucci 4 Rooms” exhibtion. An embellished jacket that gave me Spanish royalty feels as I stood among Trump Room’s decadent décor. A sequined skirt and sweater combo that was right at home in Harajuku and among the lights of Shibuya. Judging from my track record, it seems like I’ve subconsciously found my go-to wardrobe in Tokyo. Which of these looks do you like best?
