7 Fresh and Fast Ways To Get Your Face Ready For Fall
If you think your favourite moisturiser is going to hold up autumn's dryness, don't fall for the lie. Get it? Fall?
| November 3, 2017Summer’s got us sweating buckets, so heck are we glad that autumn’s already at our doorstep. But with the weather getting chillier and less humid – in Singapore, that extra bit of wind makes all the difference, just so you know – our skin’s just going to get drier and drier. Adding to the fact that winter holiday and party seasons are almost here, both which could kill our skin with the former’s dry air and the latter’s heavy makeup routines and late nights. Before you know it, you’ve got a flaky patch to deal with on one side and a major zit on the other to deal with. Then it’s all too late.
When it comes to beauty, getting to the problem before it starts is always better than treating it after it happens. With the changes comes a few things to note. The first and most important one is hydration, both externally and internally. So drink up, and arm yourselves with sleeping masks. After that, you might need to change your skincare routine to combat whatever fall hurls at you. If you’re using a charcoal cleanser, for example, consider switching to a cleansing oil or balm that doesn’t strip your face of all the good oils. Lastly, update your colour palette to the darker fall colours that we associate with the season. Maybe it’s a burgundy lip or a smoky copper eye. We’ve got you all covered with our little shopping list down below.
Sunday Riley C.E.O. C + E Micro-Dissolve Cleansing Oil
We love Sunday Riley and the fact that this cleanser has the word “C.E.O.” in it is just cherry on top of the icing, really. Not only will it dissolve all traces of heavy makeup, the pearl lime extract within exfoliates ever so slightly, giving you a clean canvas for your night time beauty routine.
MZ Skin Hydra Lift Golden Facial Treatment Mask
Party season and late nights go hand in hand. We love the former, but hate the latter for what it can do to the skin. MZ Skin’s golden mask is as luxurious as it gets with nano gold particles, but it is the extra stuff like collagen for lifting and Vitamin C for cell renewal that makes this your post-party wingman. Wingwoman?
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Night Rescue Cream
This one’s all about healing the skin as you sleep: bio-nymph peptide complex boosts collagen and fills in lines, Vitamin E and frangipani soothes and repairs.
Dr Dennis. Gross Skincare C + Collagen Deep Cream
Sick of hearing about collagen yet? Don’t be, because you’re really going to need it with the late nights and dry weather that threaten your skin’s youth. Similarly pumped with collagen and Vitamin C, this intensive repair cream goes further by targeting dark spots.
Chantecaille Mermaid Eye Color
When party season is afoot, you either go big or go home. While we’re sticking to the matte department for the lips, we’re ditching our matte eyeshadows for metallic ones with full-on shimmer. This copper one from Chantecaille will fit right at home with the changing leaves and holiday lights.
Smith & Cult The Tainted Lip Stain
We love a burgundy lip any time of the year, but fall its true territory. Smith & Cult’s goes on like a balmy, liquid lipstick, but leaves a pigmented stain even after your third glass of wine.
