A List of The Best Beauty Products That Made Our Year

It was tough picking out the ones we loved the most, but these go into our favourites of the year without a single ounce of doubt.
|

The past year has proven itself a series of challenges, just like any other year. Perhaps, even a little more. We tried a ton of new products on the market, declared our favourites for every month and asked YOU how you took care of your skin.

As we step into the new year with glorious, glowing skin and the sharpest of eyeliner flicks ever known to mankind, we decided to gather up all our favourites. We battled harsh winds and dry weather, allergic reactions and continuously fought against the battle for more hydration.

If you’re a beauty junkie, just like ourselves, you must know the pains in choosing the ultimate list of products to end the year with. We do try a lot of products, but we always make sure we only recommend the ones we REALLY LOVE. If you’d like to see all the best fashion pieces that made our year, click here.

Drunk Elephant C-Firma™ Day Serum

There’s a lot of hype surrounding this brand now, especially since Sephora Singapore has just brought it in to their stores. Of course, we rushed to get our hands on some of this, and we were not disappointed. This day-use vitamin C serum will hydrate, firm and brighten the skin all without the use of essential oils, drying alcohols and fragrances. We’re VERY into this.

NARS Aqua Glow Cushion Foundation

The war between cushion compacts will never end. Even with new contenders joining the ring, we find ourselves drawing back to this one by NARS. For starters, this is no BB cushion. You get all the benefits of a foundation with the convenience of a little compact. Moisturising, medium coverage and one that actually stays? Definitely worthy of our top 10.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Eye Shadow Palette

Ever since Yoyo got her hands on this palette, she has never done a makeup look without this since. The powders are milled so finely they adhere to the eyelids so well, with pigments and colours that pop. It’s also incredibly easy to blend, and has a whole range of colours for various different day and night looks.

Clé de Peau Beauté Intensive Eye Contour Cream

Clé de Peau Beauté has so much amazing, revolutionary technology that it’s very difficult not to put two of their products in this list. Starting with the eye cream, it has the softest texture that smooths over the skin to moisturise it and envelope each area with rich nutrients.

Clé de Peau Beauté Refined Lip Luminizer

Ah, this lip balm and tint in one handy little stick has made it to our monthly favourites before. It’s appeared on this list again because we just can’t get enough. It’s not out in stores yet, but when it is, you have to get your hands on some. The moisturising formula has carried us through cold winds without any cracked skin. Plus, the colours look natural and dewy on the lips, perfect for both night and day looks.

Shiseido Visionary Gel Lipstick

Another lipstick has made the cut, and this time it’s from Shiseido! There’s no surprise here, though. The brand has recently revamped their entire makeup range, replacing them with amazing new products. This highly pigmented lipstick just GLIDES over the lips like nothing, and stays on through multiple drinks. Yoyo brings this everywhere with her!

Kylie Cosmetics The Bronze Palette

Oh the satisfaction that you get when you hit the pan of an eyeshadow is a feeling like no other. You know you’re making your money’s worth. That happened with a very surprising eyeshadow palette from Kylie Cosmetics, a brand filled with controversy. We tried hard to hate it, but the lightweight packaging and easy to pair colours were versatile enough for both day and night looks. It’s so good, we only brought this one palette to fashion month.

Maison Margiela REPLICA Lazy Sunday Morning EDT

A longstanding favourite of ours (and surely many others) is the ever so classy, Chanel No. 5. We’re not saying Lazy Sunday Morning has overtaken it, but it’s one we kept reaching for. A lighter, breezier fragrance for days where we need a little more bed and lot less of the outside world.

Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Serum

The whole range of Dr. Jart+’s ceramidin series is our skin’s saviour. It provides intense hydration and the ultimate moisture boost that we need for harsh winter winds. Back home in Singapore, we skip the cream and sometimes the serum, because it is THAT hydrating. The toner is a viscous texture that resembles more of an essence, and sinks into the skin so easily. We cannot emphasise how much we use this.

Erborian BB Creme Nude SPF 20

On days where full coverage foundations are just too much, a good BB cream always comes in handy. Our favourite is this one by Erborian that also delivers nutrients and moisture to the skin. This helped to combat dry skin, and melts into the skin into a matte-finish texture. It may get a bit oilier as the hours pass, but nothing a bit of powder can’t prevent.
