Treat Yo’self: 7 Beauty Splurges To Make This Week
From a delicious rose-scented face mist to a blush palette that'll give you a glorious sun-kissed glow sans sun burns. Bring it, scorching summer sun.| June 7, 2017
Summer is just around the corner! For us, that just basically means hotter-than-ever temperatures. Joy, joy, joy. Instead of agonising over how flat our hair is going to be or how our makeup will slide right off our faces if we’re not careful, we’re going to look at the positive. That is, checking off everything on our summer beauty shopping list. No therapy like retail therapy.
To prep you all for the sweaty and scorching days to come, this week’s beauty splurge round-up includes ultra-moisturising lipsticks, serums, scrubs and primers that’ll keep that shine under control, sprays that refresh and hydrate, and blushes that’ll give you that summer glow without the burn. Bring it, sweaty weather!
Burberry Beauty Full Kisses in Nude Beige No. 500
Just that right shade of pink-beige, moisturises and glides on super smoothly, even if you’re having a bad lip day. Need we go on? Our reader Mishu is officially sold on it and we can see why. Read her detailed review here.
Christophe Robin Cleansing Purifying Scrub With Sea Salt
Scrubs? For your scalp? If you think about it, it makes sense. When you’ve got flakey skin, you exfoliate and moisturise. Why shouldn’t you do the same for your scalp? This tackles oily, flakey and itchy scalp by its pesky horns, but do note that it’ll also dry out the rest of your hair because of all that deep-cleansing action. As such, it’s best to keep the scrub to just your scalp, or pair it with a separate hair moisturiser.
Cover FX Custom Blot Drops
Cover FX’s newest custom drop is basically anything you want it to be. You can ue it alone, as a primer, drop it into your foundation or tinted sunblock to turn it matte or use it like blotting paper over your finished makeup. Multitasking beauty products, come to mama. (If you’re looking for a multitasking serum that blurs pores and moisturises, here’s one that works.)
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Palette
Thanks to a certain something they call the “Surreal Light” powder, every blush from Hourglass always seems to hit the right notes. Their blushes go on easily, give definition and make your skin glow like no tomorrow. What’s better than one blush? Four blushes all tucked neatly into a travel-friendly palette, that’s what.
Marc Jacobs Beauty Perfecting Coconut Face Primer
When you live somewhere as humid as Singapore, you’re never not on the look out for the next best primer. Best on dry skin types, we’re loving all of the coconut-y goodness we’re getting from this primer, from pore-blurring coconut milk to hydrating coconut water.
Mario Badescu Facial Spray With Aloe Herbs and Rosewater
If synthetic setting sprays leave a bad taste in your mouth and you’re looking for something that’s more than just mountain water in a spray bottle, Mario Badescu’s facial spray hydrates and refreshes whilst imparting the delicious scent of roses – and it’s not too harsh on the wallet, either.
Surratt Beauty Lip Lustre in Tres Chic 13
We’ll always prefer a matte lip over all else, but we don’t mind the occasional dark patent lip à la Louis Vuitton and Dior Fall/Winter 2016, either. Surratt Beauty’s Lip Lustre isn’t the sturdiest liquid lipstick around – glossy lipsticks rarely are, anyway – but a smooth, high-shine finish? No problemo.
