Treat Yo’Self: 7 Beauty Splurges To Make This Week
Includes a super chic eye illuminator, an ultra-hydrating eye cream that works under makeup and a clay mask that soothes, smoothes and smells delicious.| August 10, 2017
Summer is the time for vacation and unwinding, but for some reason, our summer months have been one of the busiest this year. Fashion week is also coming up very soon and we’re trying our best to not think about the back-t0-back appointments and generally living out of our mini van. With all the things we have on our plate, we can help but crave for a little detox session, even if it is within the confines of our own homes.
A beauty elixir that hydrates the skin and the room in-between meetings, a clay mask that draws impurities out from stressed skin and clogged pores, eye creams and oils that rejuvenate and brighten. Let’s not forget a couple of travel-friendly makeup products that can keep up with the pace the moment we’re out the door. If you’re feeling a little tied up, our beauty splurges of the week are right up your alley.
Caudalie Beauty Elixir Gold
The Beauty Elixir is so well-loved that Caudalie saw fit to clad it in gold. It is one of our favourite setting sprays of all time, but we also love it because it is the perfect skin pick-me-up that hydrates, tones, smooths and refreshes. And it is 100% natural! Compared to the other top setting sprays we’ve tried, Caudalie is surprisingly affordable, too.
Chantecaille Detox Clay Mask With Rosemary & Honey
A good friend of ours who has amazing skin, so amazing that you can’t even see her pores even though she has no makeup on, told us that she swears by clay masks. This one by Chantecaille not only smells delicious, it draws out impurities without leaving dry and irritated. Your skin will feel smooth and soothed with pores cleansed and tightened.
Eve Lom Flawless Face Primer
Still on the hunt for the best face primer ever, but not so keen to take the plunge with what we think is the greatest primer ever made? Try Eve Lom’s. Its light-diffusing formula glides on easily, masking pores and hydrating skin along the way. Vitamin E is also added to shield skin from free radicals. It may be a little too hydrating for some, so it is best to skip this if you have oily skin (and go for one of the primers in our list).
Hourglass Soleil Toujours Radiance Eye Glow + Illuminator
Unlike most eye brighteners that come in tubs or squeeze tubes, this one comes in a super sleek black and gold vial, complete with an applicator that lets you massage your under-eye as you pump it with jojoba and sunflower seed oil.
Hourglass Confession Ultra Slim High Intensity Lipstick
Seriously, can Hourglass do any wrong? Regularly-shaped lipsticks cover the lips more quickly, but we find that skinny ones are more flexible and precise (and extremely travel-friendly). In spite of its skinniness, this one from Hourglass is highly pigmented, giving you the necessary coverage with just one swipe. There’s also a whole range of colours to choose from. We like the nude-pinks like I’ve Never and The First Time best.
Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment With Avocado
If the Hourglass Soleil Toujours is a tad pricey for you, try Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment. It is ultra-hydrating and plumping, and though thick in consistency, we don’t find it to be overly greasy. Go light and you can even use it under makeup. (According to celebrity makeup artist to the A-listers Hung Vanngo, you should never skip the eye cream during pre-makeup prep.)
NARS Blush Bronzer Duo in Orgasm/Laguna
Um, why are we only seeing this now? There’s no question that Orgasm is one of the best blushes in the business, and Laguna is our go-to for matte bronzers. Putting them together in one travel-friendly palette is GENIUS.
