Treat Yo’ Self: 7 Beauty Splurges To Make This Week
We've heard why serums are important, but eye serums? They're not the same thing as eye creams, but there's a lot more goodness in them than you may think.| March 6, 2018
Eyes creams are glorious little tubs that hold a special place in our hearts. It helps us to pretend like we’ve had a good eight hours of sleep rather than just two or three. Then, there are other products like this gel eye patch that we love and adore so much that ditching the eye cream seemed like an obvious choice to make. It’s things like Chanel Beauty’s Le Lift Flash Eye Revitalizer that make us do a double take on eye serums. Are they necessarily “better” than creams? Will they give magical results? Can it solve discolouration?
We’ve talked about why serums are important for the face, but never about why eye serums should be incorporated into our routine. In short, eye serums are potent and deliver the good stuff to the skin, without being diluted by occlusive agents (i.e. moisture-trapping) that are usually present in creams. It’s good to look out for airtight packaging when it comes to serums, as active ingredients present like retinol and ferulic acid can degrade faster when exposed to light, heat and air. (Read: Pumps.) Sticking it in the fridge is a preferred method to counter jars and other non-airtight bottles. Not only does the cold help to reduce puffiness, the darkness also helps to preserve the ingredients.
By using both a serum and a cream, you can get double the results in half the time. Your eyes are the windows to the soul, so making sure that it’s properly taken care of is extremely important. Whether it’s wrinkles, discolouration or puffiness, there’s an eye serum that will have your back. We’ve rounded up seven that are worth your moolah.
