The Shimmery Eyeshadow Palette That Works Even Better As A Highlighter
When a cult-favourite highlighter brand makes an eyeshadow palette, you KNOW it's going to make your eyelids glow like never before – and your cheeks get a share!| February 8, 2018
Welcome to KULALA Beauty Club, where YOU our dear readers help us suss out the best in the beautysphere. This week, we have Fiona (@flky) who is all for versatility and loves to rock a bold eye and lip combo. She brings us her review of the Becca Après Ski Glow Collection Eye Lights Palette.
I’ve heard a lot of praise about Becca’s highlighter and how it has become the holy grail for many. With the velvety soft and fine-milled highlighter pigments that makes you shine brighter than a diamond, it didn’t take much to convert me into a fan as well. You can probably imagine how hard I squealed when the Becca Après Ski Glow Collection Eye Lights Palette showed up at my doorstep.
One look at the seven neutral shimmer shades and I was no short of “oohs” and “aahs”. Five shades were inspired from their classic highlighter shades, and two were specially created for the recent holiday season. The yummy names like “Hot Cocoa” and “Toasted Marshmallow” were very apt, and evoked a sense of warmth, much like sitting by the fireplace and tucked under a blanket.
With an eyeshadow brush, I swatched each colour on the back of my hand. It gave a subtle shimmer, but not as pigmented and opaque as I wished it would’ve been. I had to go in with a brush multiple times for the colours to show, even under plenty of sunlight. The colours appeared the same on my lids and it was really difficult to pack on the colour. While blending, I also noticed that the lighter shades would disappear and would be completely cancelled out. I wasn’t about to give up on this palette just yet, and decided to try the shades as a highlighter. The results were gorgeous, and I figured that I would end up using it for that purpose.
When it comes to eyeshadow palettes, I have a liking for strong pigments that would aid with a bold eye. Although this palette didn’t pack a punch, I could see how this would sit well with someone who prefers a subtle sweep of shimmer over their lids that would provide a natural finish. It’s a great palette for beginners, and doubles up as a highlighter, too.
