We Got A Reader To Test Out Becca’s Insane Holographic Highlighters

There are highlighters and then there are THESE highlighters. Cue all the mermaid and unicorn references.

Welcome to KULALA Beauty Club, where YOU our dear readers help us suss out the best in the beautysphere. To get your skin all ready for summer, we got Roxanne Chia (@theskinnyscout) to review Becca’s brand new Light Chaser Highlighter For Face & Eye in Opal Flashes Jade. Roxanne is jewellery designer and beauty blogger at The Skinny Scout.

Move over matte lips, it’s highlighter season. You can’t imagine how excited I was when first trying out my brand new Becca Light Chaser Highlighter for Face & Eye.

This highlighter is multi-purpose. You can apply it on your eyelids for that much needed pop, on top of your lipstick for a holographic effect or on your cheekbones. It comes in six shades and mine is in Opal Flashes Jade, described as a “golden opal pearl with a teal sapphire shift.”

When swatched with my bare finger, it delivers colour and shimmer in one swipe that’s so pigmented, I can’t see the skin of my forearm beneath it. Since that’s too much green and blue in the pigment for my cheeks, which may cancel out the effect of any blush I have on, I apply it with gentle dabbing motions with a brush, creating just enough sheen to look radiant. If you prefer a more intense look, I strongly recommend applying with your finger, a wet brush or on top of a primer or eye crayon that acts well as a base.

A quick check led me to not more than 11 ingredients in this product – none of which are parabens or sulphates – which is a major plus point for me and any ingredient-conscious girl out there. The highlighter lasted for several hours and didn’t migrate to the lower parts of my face all throughout the day. While I wouldn’t wear this shade as a part of my everyday look – my clients at work may find it weird if I turned up with slightly green cheeks – the quality of the product is enough to tempt me into getting the other shades in this limited edition range.
