Our Favourite On-The-Go Beauty Products

Getting your makeup to stay put on your face from the get-go is a goal that all aficionados of beauty products – if you’re here, that’s you and me – strive towards constantly. If I’m going to spend 30 minutes to an hour putting on my face, making sure every brow, eyeliner flick and drop of concealer is in place, the last thing I want is for all of it to melt into a slippery, greasy mess.

Yet, while nailing it at home in the comfort of your vanity and fully-equipped makeup box is paramount to the whole mission, touching up on the go is just as important. Even more so when you need your face to make it to the end of a long, busy day. If the only dressing room you have access to is the back of an Uber, your products need to be compact, quick and easy to use.

Cle De Peau Refining Pressed Powder LX

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer

Lancome Cushion Foundation

For us, our biggest test comes during fashion week. We try our hardest to make sure our makeup is metaphorically bulletproof before we leave the hotel, but a little touch-up here and there is always appreciated. Cle De Peau’s Refining Pressed Powder LX is possibly the slimmest powder compact we’ve ever seen. It takes shine away instantly, feels featherlight and leaves a velvety glow on your skin. If more concealing is needed, we switch to Lancome’s Cushion Foundation and NARS’s Radiant Creamy Concealer. Both are incredibly easy to use on the go and hide spots, veins and zits without weighing down skin.

Dior Addict Lip Glow Colour Revival Balm

Maybe the thought of carrying all these around with you, though travel-friendly, is still a little much. Maybe you’ve got perfect skin, so you don’t even need these concealer things to being with. But everyone needs lip balm. I cannot leave our hotel – or anywhere, really – without Dior’s Dior Addict Lip Glow, so sometimes I carry two just to be super sure. Speaking as someone who needs lip balm to function, this one stays put for hours, even through drinks and snacking. Yoyo borrows my Dior Addict all the time because, as you guys may have noticed, she’s not typically the bag carrying-type. Having two with me makes me feel secure. Judge me all you want for being a grandma.

When we’ve got night events and parties at fashion week, we like to jazz things up a bit. Yoyo likes a bright red or nude-pink lip – we have all her favourites here – while I prefer a very dark red. MAC’s Retro Matte Liquid Lip Colour dries fast and stays put all night while ColourPop’s Lippie Stix glides on so easily with brilliant colour pay-off. My lip colour of choice for the recent fashion month was Burberry Beauty’s Lip Velvet in Dark Cherry. It doesn’t stay put as well as the other two, but it is extremely creamy and pigmented and it has the exact shade of dark cherry that I’m into right now. All three barely take up any space in your bag.

Now, eyeliner. We’re not asking you to put on full eyeliner on a moving car. We’re not there, nor do I think we’ll ever get there. A little sharpening of that wing when the Uber is stuck in a jam? Sure. Stila’s Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Liner has a sharp tip and skinny body that make touch-ups quick and simple. If your bag is roomy enough for another bag, throw all of these beauty gems into a cosmetic pouch so you know where everything is, toss it into your everyday bag and you’re all equipped and ready for your next touch-up sesh.
