Blushers That’ll Put The Colour Right Back Into Your Cheeks

On days where your routine no-makeup makeup look still leaves you looking pale, these natural-looking blushers are your ammo to make those cheekbones pop.
|

There are four kinds of makeup days: the literal no makeup day (filled brows are essential to life itself, so they don’t count), the no-makeup makeup day, the regular makeup day and the things-are-going-to-get-LIT makeup day. With the rise of cushion foundations and its cousins, along with the countless selfies of models looking like they don’t have a lick of makeup on even though you know in your bones that they do, the no-makeup makeup look has risen up to be the makeup look to covet and perfect.

When we spoke to celebrity makeup extraordinaire Hung Vanngo last year, he joked that it takes 20 products to create the perfect no-makeup makeup look. Even if that is true, it is for the pro leagues. For us lesser humans – especially on days where there is no end to the errand list – as long as there is sufficient coverage and we look alive, it will do. That means brows, a light tapping all around with the foundation cushion sponge and a tinted lip balm.

However, patting foundation over the skin, no matter how minimal, takes away your skin’s natural flush, and as we hoarders of beauty things know, a flush is essential to that dewy, glowing no-makeup look. Natural flush covered? Fake it. Call me vain, but if you want to do it, do it right. Plus, when your face is as wide as mine – I’m talking pancakes – a little blush on the cheeks brings out non-existent cheekbones, giving a hint of dimension.

I’ve found that cushion blushers – Lancome and 3CE have great ones – and tints give the most natural, dewy finish. The staying power isn’t too shabby, either. If you really want to bring out those cheekbones though, blushers with itty-bitty bits of iridescent glitter – like the ones from Burberry Beauty, Becca and Hourglass – are your best bet. Below, we’ve rounded up some of our favourite blushers for off-duty days and some with colours and textures that look so dang irresistible. Now, look alive, soldier!
