Beauty PSA: These Body Moisturisers Won’t Leave You Feeling Sticky
Those DO exist, you guys. Perfect for those of us living in thick humidity.| October 20, 2016
Now, time to ‘fess up – how many of you skip slathering your body with lotion at night, using the humidity as an excuse? We know, we know. It’s not that you don’t know the benefits of moisturising your skin daily, but the thought of having that sticky after-feeling mixed in with the night’s heat…it’s not a pretty picture. It’s not a pretty feeling. But you know what’s even less pretty? When the skin on your shins and elbows become so dry that they end up looking scaly. Sound familiar? Like we said – we’ve been there.
If the need for you to moisturise your whole body only arises when you’re visiting a country with dry weather, it’s officially time for you to change your beauty routine. Like, right now. (FYI: If you’re wondering how you can save your skin from a flakey demise while travelling, here’s some help.) It’s time to treat all of your skin – and yourself – right, and not just the skin on your face.
But how to get your skin all smooth and supple without that icky, greasy feeling? IS IT EVEN POSSIBLE, YOU ASK? Why, yes, yes it is. As always, we scoured drugstores and beauty counters so you don’t have to and arrived at our top six. Cue the heavenly music!
If you’re looking for a body moisturiser that works wonders but doesn’t break the bank, it really doesn’t get any better than Nivea’s In-Shower Body Milk Skin Conditioner. Designed for use in the shower – hah, durh – it is perfect if you have trouble keeping to this whole top-to-toe moisturising routine. If you’re committed to the whole she-bang though, Kiehl’s Creme de Corps is a cult classic we keep on our nightstands. If you want something even lighter and more suited for daywear, there’s the Creme de Corps Lightweight Body Lotion, complete with SPF 30 sunscreen for extra protection.
Those who like a little fun in their beauty products can go for CND’s Scentsations in Peach & Ginseng (odd combo, but anything with ginseng is kind of a yes) and Soap & Glory’s The Righteous Butter, another cult classic. Both are guaranteed to leave your skin smelling so lover-ly as you begin your snoozefest. If your skin is on the sensitive side, beauty junkies swear by Cetaphil’s Moisturising Lotion. It’s simple and to the point. Finally, there’s La Mer’s The Body Creme, for those of you looking for something a little more luxurious to pamper your skin with. While we have absolute faith in La Mer’s ability to restore moisture to the skin almost instantly – the Moisturising Cream is a favourite of ours – The Body Creme is more suitable if you have very dry skin.
There you go! Here’s to making scaly skin a thing of the past. If you still can’t decide, head down to your local beauty counters and test them all out. You’re bound to find one that works for you. Tell us – what other beauty products do you keep on your nightstand?
