| May 8, 2017If you really think about it, your lips are the most needy part of your face. They don’t do well in hot temperatures, they don’t do well in cold temperatures and they have to be moisturised constantly. Skip that routine swab of chapstick and they rain vengeance on you, turning all scabby and – in extreme circumstances – bloody. Eurgh. Been there, done that, don’t ever want to go back.
It doesn’t just end with chapsticks. To really satisfy these little suckers puckers, you have to scrub them, oil them, mask them and, if you’re really into it, serum them. Oh, the things we do to avoid looking like zombies of the apocalypse and to ensure that our favourite lippies go on without a hitch every time. Getting them scab-free is the only the basics. Keeping them soft, smooth and hydrated till they’re perfect enough to be used as lip models is your goal.
Start with a good lip balm that’s got something extra on the side, like those from Glossier, Dior and Tata Harper (which our friend Liz Uy personally swears by). Your skin benefits from serums and oils, so it’s a no brainer that you lips will as well. We can’t get enough of the tinted oil from Hourglass, but if you really want to buff those lines away, try Alpha-H and Lancer. Finally, end all that TLC with a good mask. Overnight masks – like this from Laneige – are great if you’re lazy, but what’s more fun than this three-step lip mask with monkeys on it? NOTHING!
