Why It’s Important To Moisturise Your Hands
It's not fun when you have to deal with tight skin and peeling fingernails. You know what they say about how your hands tell your age, right?| September 5, 2017
Living in Singapore has led us to neglect moisturising our hands. We don’t think about doing it, especially when we start sweating buckets from our palms. Lots of things already slip and slide through our grip. Add hand creams into the picture? Not so pretty. When we do actually realise that we need a dose of hand cream, whether on a plane or in a winter country, it is probably a little too late. Dry, cracked, painful skin, peeling and chipped nails – the damage has already begun. There’s also thing about how the appearance of your hands can reveal your age, a very true thing that leads us to the topic at hand. Pun not intended.
There are a couple of things that lead to early aging in your hands – water, chemicals, severe temperatures and the sun. If you’re not already wearing gloves to do the dishes, that’s strike one. Sunscreen is especially important in keeping your hands healthy as well. It makes sense, since your hands are among the most exposed parts of your body and particularly if you drive frequently. Those grandma-esque hand gloves with the frilly edges are ugly, but they do serve a purpose.
A crone you are not. You’re already putting so much TLC into the skin on your face, don’t let your hands be the party pooper. Here, we’ve rounded up a list of hand moisturisers that we absolutely cannot get enough of. Not only do they hydrate and protect your hands, they are also lightweight and absorb quickly into the skin to avoid that greasy, sticky feeling. Chanel’s new La Creme Main – that little pod! – is our hand cream of the moment, but Aurelia’s gets our vote for its anti-aging properties. We’re a little biased towards By Terry’s Baume de Rose because it just smells so delicious.
If you’re still hesitant to add hand cream into your purse, try Innisfree’s Special Care Mask for Hand that will help you achieve soft, supple and youthful hands. We never say no to trying out a sheet mask – even if it is for our hands.
