5 Ultra-Moisturising Oils That Give The Dewy Skin You Crave
Don't let the word "oil" scare you. Extremely light yet effective, these five facial oils will leave your skin feeling fresh, dewy and hydrated by morning.| December 2, 2016
The idea of slathering facial oil on your skin sounds intimidating. Even more so if your skin belongs to the oilier end of the spectrum and you already live in a place where oily skin and the weather don’t mix. We know, because we’ve also had our reservations. But you know what they say – you don’t know unless you try. Plus, facial oils already have a whole slew of positive reviews to back them up, so they legit.
Touted to be just as – if not more moisturising – than cream or gel moisturisers, facial oils are a real treat because they’re packed with botanical oils that your skin can really benefit from. Plus, facial oils these days are specifically designed to be lightweight on the skin, so those with oily skin have nothing to worry about. In fact, giving your skin a good dose of essential oils apparently helps to control sebum production, not increase it. We hopped on the facial oil bandwagon quite recently and we just can’t get enough.
If you’re ready to take a bold step in your skincare and give your skin some good TLC, we’ve rounded up five of our favourite facial oils below. Not only do they feel light on the skin – some almost serum-like – they’re packed with ultra-hydrating properties. Just smooth a few drops over your face, go to sleep and wake up with skin dewier than the night before. Pair them with your favourite night serum and they’ll work even better. Try it out and let us know what you think!
Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Intense Recovery Ampoules
If you think these gummy-looking things are gimmicky, think again. Thanks to something called ChronoluxAl, which specifically targets irritation, all it takes is just one ampoule and a good night’s rest to turn your skin from tired and stressed to radiant and dewy. The oil smells a little like herbal tea, but it’s not that big of a problem.
La Mer The Renewal Oil
We love their masks and moisturisers, so it’s no surprise that we love their hydrating oil – also packed with La Mer’s signature Miracle Broth – as well. The oil looks like it would feel greasy on the skin, but it doesn’t. (You do have to give it a good shake to mix the two layers in the bottle, though.) We love how it smells, too. La Mer’s oil is the priciest on our list, but if you’re down for some self-pampering, why not?
Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate
We’ve raved about this several times now (specifically here and here). Deeply hydrating yet light on the skin, fun-sized and easy to use, this top-seller from Kiehl’s is something we like to keep in our carry-on luggage on long flights. If you’re looking for a wallet-friendly face oil that packs a punch, this it it.
Lancôme Bienfait Multi-Vital Daily Replenishing Oil
Lancome’s Energie De Vie collection is already part of our skincare routine, so it’s about time that we delved into the Bienfait Multi-Vital oil. Packed with botanical essences, the oil feels more like serum and returns hydration, smoothness and softness to the skin almost instantly.
Shiseido Future Solution LX Replenishing Treatment Oil
Who doesn’t love multi-purpose products? Designed to be used on your face, body, nails and hair, Shiseido’s take is packed with ingredients famed for their hydrating properties – primrose oil, argan oil, macadamia nut oil, jojoba oil and safflower oil.
