The Best of Beauty: Our May Favourites
This month, we've got an irresistible fragrance, glow-centric products, a travel-friendly eyeshadow that's to-die-for and an aromatherapy oil.| May 25, 2018
There were a lot of new favourites this month, but the ones that made the list had us hooked for a good solid month, possibly even longer. It seems like we’re gravitating toward things that make us feel good with uplifting scents or products that helps us achieve and accentuate that coveted natural glow, from skin to lips. We’ve also got a new eyeshadow palette that we can’t seem to put down with shades that’ll fit right into that golden summer glow theme we seem to be going with here.
Kora Organics Heart Chakra Aromatherapy Oil
Whether you believe in the concept of chakras or not, believe in the calming and relaxing effects of a good rose essential oil. It smells very strongly of rose, but the addition of sandalwood, cedar wood and ylang ylang to keep it from being too sweet. The oil itself is also very light and non-sticky, and because the scent is in the oil, it stays with you for a good part of the day. Basically, we’re addicted.
Urban Decay Naked Heat Petite
Oh wow, the intensity of the eyeshadows on this one is really, truly something. With four warm shades that look good on their own – including a very in-trend orange brown – and two that work as colour correctors, Urban Decay’s Naked Heat Petite is the hot weather season go-to. We could do with one shimmery shade, but that’s easily remedied with any one of our five million other eyeshadow palettes. This one fits right into your palm, making it the perfect eyeshadow palette to take on the go on your summer vacation.
Pixi Glowtion Day Dew
Getting that morning glow and dewy skin has never been easier with the Pixi Glowtion Day Dew. The formula is lightweight, nourishing and boosts dull skin, all with the use of botanical ingredients. A layer of this under our foundation and we are good to glow for hours. (HAH, geddit?) Plus, it’s got little sparkly glitter bits in it that helps for that extra shine and can be layered for a higher intensity.
Bvlgari Omnia Pink Sapphire
There’s something about this perfume that makes us want to jump around and dance, perhaps because of the fruity and flowery notes in it. It’s more like a girls’ night out kind of scent, but isn’t too overbearing with pink peppers to balance it out. The bright citrus notes then melts away into a muskier scent, coupled with vanilla and a little bit of woodiness. Now, this is a perfume we can’t stop sniffing.
Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Lip Balm
When it comes to lip balms, it usually doesn’t matter what sort we use as long as there’s a layer of it to protect our skin from cracking. But this Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Lip Balm is an exception, gliding onto the skin effortlessly with a bit of a tint that helps to achieve said healthy glow. It also helped us realise what a good lip balm should do – that is to actually hydrate, repair and protect, all without a sticky residue.
