4 More Sunscreens That’ll Fit Right Into Your Skincare Routine

These not only keep your makeup intact, but also hydrate, control oil and mysteriously double as primers. You *can* have your cake and eat it, too!
|

The perfect sunscreen is crucial. Choose wrong and your makeup that comes after is literally on a slipper slope, and you still have to grin and bear it because goopy, greasy sunscreen is better than going unprotected under the sun. We’ve talked about sunscreens before, but because we’ve always got our ear to the ground when it comes to beauty – another way of saying that we’re raging shopaholics when it comes to makeup and skincare – the list has changed yet again.

More than just doing the bare minimum of not screwing up our makeup, the latest sunscreens on our radar go beyond. We’re talking melt-into-skin textures, hydration, natural ingredients, oil control and even sunscreens that work mysteriously well as highlighting primers. Knowing us, the list will probably change again in another six months. How fickle is the mind. What is your go-to sunscreen of the moment that covers all the bases?

Astalift White Perfect UV Clear Solution

Having no prior experience with Astalift, this one completely surprised us. The texture is so light and spreads so easily. It even has that pearly yet non-greasy priming effect not unlike our all-time favourite Backlight Priming Filter from Becca. The formula starts out white at first, but don’t let that put you off as it’ll slowly turn colourless as it melts into your skin. The cap even doubles as a UV ray-dar (hah, see what we did there). If it glows blue, you’ll know it’s time to block up. A final plus point? IT SMELLS LIKE ROSES.

Innisfree Perfect UV Protection Cream

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again – no one knows porcelain skin quite like the Koreans. If you’re looking for a sunblock that’s affordable and does the job, K-beauty in particular is a good place to start. Instead of chemicals with dizzying names, Innisfree uses green tea, sunflower extract, chia seed extract and turmeric i.e. superfood of the mo. This one’s also sweat and oil proof, yet imparts a dewy glow sans greasiness according to our pal Irene Kim.

Lancome Bienfait UV 50+ Sunscreen

When it comes to sunscreens, seeing the words “super fluid” on the bottle is a good sign. A thick, goopy layer of sunscreen is the opposite of what you want if you’re following with makeup. We love how easily Lancôme’s Bienfait UV 50+ blends into the skin without leaving a greasy feeling behind. What’s more, it specifically states that it is water resistant, unlike most fancy sunscreens that leave you guessing.

La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Ultra-Light 50+

A favourite of our girl Vannesa Hong, La Roche-Posay’s Athelios XL is the no-frills crowdpleaser of our list. Drugstore sunscreens have the reputation of being really goopy and non-makeup friendly, but not this one. It’s light, hydrating, grease-free and even has that powdery, primer texture.
