Stop The Presses, This Cushion Foundation May Be The Best One We’ve Tried Yet
This stunner from Clé de Peau could possibly be the most expensive cushion foundation in your collection, but three words: SO. WORTH. IT.| August 13, 2018
When cushion foundations first got popular a couple of years back, we weren’t too ecstatic about it. We did love the convenience factor, but not so much the overly dewy, almost film-like formulas that sat on the skin like a layer. But, then the trend really took off, and many other brands came up with their own version. (We even tested seven different ones to find the best, here.)
Since then, there have been a few that held a special place in our hearts – including one from Chanel Beauty and another from NARS – but, a new contender has emerged, and we are sold. S-O-L-D. Clé de Peau has just launched their own radiant, exceptionally hydrating and luminising cushion foundation. You can expect no less from the brand that houses a $300 foundation.
To really put it to the test, we used it for a full 20 hours – let’s just say we were up really late that night – to see how it would fare on both normal to dry and combination skin. Skeptics we were, but it proved itself when that dewy-glow lasted until the moment we wiped it off.
The real winning factor? It didn’t turn oily, sticky or change texture in any way. Plus, it’s insanely natural on the skin with buildable light to medium coverage that looks and feels incredibly lightweight. It did wear off a little at the end where a few dark spots started to show, but bear in mind that was after 20 long, long hours.
The only real downside to this cushion is the colours. With only six shades, there are not a lot of choices to choose from. It also oxidises a little, but it’s hardly noticeable unless in direct white light. Despite this, you’re going to want to give this a shot. We don’t want to be that person and call it life-changing, but it sort of is.
