We’re Obsessed: Rose Infused Beauty Products
So much more than a prop on "The Bachelorette", roses have beauty benefits that go beyond its delicious scent. Can you blame me for being obsessed?| June 19, 2017
In Romeo & Juliet, Shakespeare writes that a rose by any other name would smell as sweet. Well, the sentiment’s the same, William! Sort of. Instead of a certain ravishing vine-climbing boy, I’m referring to the actual flower. Whether it’s in the form of a perfume, face oil, mask or mist, there’s no scent that I find more calming than that of a good, proper rose. It’s got a crisp sweetness that freshens the senses without overpowering the nose. (The rhyme was unintentional, I swear! I ain’t no Bard!)
Of course, roses don’t just smell good. They come with a whole list of benefits that your skin will cry dramatic tears of joy for. Hydration for starters, together with restoring radiance and suppleness. Some even work on pesky hyper-pigmentation and fine lines. The next time you think about calling someone basic for liking roses, think again.
With my rose obsession in tow, imagine my sheer delight when I discovered all the rose-centric skincare goodies that just hit the stores, both IRL and URL. There’s the new Rose Oil Blend from Pixi that moisturises your skin in an instant with just one to two drops, Chantecaille’s anti-wrinkle Rose de Mai Face Oil that has a surprising matte finish and Mario Badescu’s wildly popular Aloe, Herbs & Rosewater Facial Spray that not only hydrates, but doubles (triples?) as a highlighter and setting spray. Jen Atkin’s Ouai has a Rose Hair & Body Oil that you can slather all over yourself, top to toe, without feeling like a marinated chicken ready for the rotisserie. The texture is so light.
For some hardcore rose action, count on the classic Rose Face Mask from Fresh. It’s got real rose petal bits in it! If you’re up for something ultra luxe, Farsali’s Rose Gold Elixir that contains 24K gold flakes in addition to rosehip oil, vitamins, lemongrass and orange peel is right up your alley. A sign that it’s good? There’s a limit on how many you can buy each time.
