The Golden Highlighter That Helps You Fake A Facelift

Say what? Our reader Dahlia says she's tried about a million highlighters, so if she says it works, we're taking her word for it. #trust

Welcome to KULALA Beauty Club, where YOU our dear readers help us suss out the best in the beautysphere. This week, we have Dahlia (@dahliamohd) and her review of Laura Mercier’s Brow Dimension Fiber-Infused Colour Gel and Face Illuminator.

The only thing I know about Laura Mercier is its award-winning primer that I swear will help your makeup stay en pointe throughout the day even in our treacherous Singaporean weather. I had never really ventured into its other makeup range, so I was pleasantly surprised to be given the Brow Dimension Fiber-Infused Colour Gel in Brunette and Face Illuminator in Addiction for review.

At first glance, the Brow Dimension Fiber-Infused Colour Gel looks like a mascara wand. Upon closer inspection, you will see tiny fibres attached to the brush which thankfully came in a warm brunette colour to match my eyebrows. Application was simple and you do not really need to have prior experience as the formula is light and allows for multiple tries so you can really learn to apply it as you go.

The look is subtle if you are applying it on bare brows, but I found that it works best after you have drawn in your brows, especially if you have sparse and uneven brows like mine. I like to apply it at the end of my eyebrows where hairs are most sparse as it gives a lengthening and volumnising effect. It scores points on its easy application and this is sure to be a staple tool to finish off your eyebrow grooming.

The Face Illuminator is a surprise hit, especially since I jumped onto the highlighting and strobing wagon early and have experimented with every highlighter imaginable out there. While other highlighters come in a mix of colours like pink and gold hues, the Face Illuminator in Addiction is a luscious gold.

I was initially worried that my yellow skin tone would look even more sallow upon application, but the formulation is so fine and light that it creates a “lit from within” effect instead of a cakey effect. Using it on cheekbones create an immediate glow and on the nose bridge it gives you that lift that you usually look for under a surgeon’s knife. The shade Addiction, matches my skin tone perfectly and it does not look overdone. I will definitely be using more of this magic powder because it feels so light and forgiving on the face. Here’s a tip; apply some on the middle of eyelids post eyeshadow application to really make the eyes open up!
