The Yellow Lipstick That Isn’t Quite What It Seems
Despite how it looks, KULALA Beauty Clubber Hannah has been carrying it in her bag every day since her first swipe. Here's why.
| October 26, 2017Welcome to KULALA Beauty Club, where YOU our dear readers help us suss out the best in the beautysphere. This week, we brought back Hannah (@hhnnaa) to review Lipstick Queen’s Mornin’ Sunshine (which you can shop here and here). For Hannah, blending is her cardio. She can’t decide if she likes Korean or Western makeup more, so she typically just gets them all. Read her previous review here.
Yellow lipsticks isn’t an everyday product, but lo and behold – this is! Despite its yellow appearance, Mornin’ Sunhine from Lipstick Queen turns into a wearable shade with a glossy finish upon application onto your lips. Depending on your pH level, the colour will either lean towards a peachy orange or pinky hue.
It is an interesting lipstick and surprisingly, reasonably hydrating with its moisturizing ingredients like Vitamin E, shea butter and beeswax. For me, my lips turned into a soft coral shade, adding a subtle yet noticeable pop of color. It lasted a good eight hours on my lips before any reapplication is needed. As it glides on, it leaves behind a thin lightweight layer of product without any tugging of the lips. Here’s a selfie to prove my point:
On lazy days, it is my go-to lip product as it acts as a tinted lip balm that does its job well with one swipe. On glamorous days, it acts as a base lip product before I apply my liquid matte lipsticks. I usually toss it into my bag before heading out and it’s a strategic choice as it helps to moisturize my lips and add colour to my face while I’m on the go!
Credits to Lipstick Queen for producing such a great product as novelty products are usually “meh” – but this one does it job as promised!
