The Microfinishing Powder That Replaces Your Favourite Selfie Filters
Meitu Xiuxiu, who? Our reader Hannah gives her verdict and finds a new beauty love.| June 5, 2017
Welcome to KULALA Beauty Club, where YOU our dear readers help us suss out the best in the beautysphere. This week, we have Hannah (@hhnnaa) and her review of Make Up For Ever’s Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation and Microfinishing Pressed Powder. For Hannah, blending is her cardio. She can’t decide if she likes Korean or Western makeup more, so she typically just gets them all.
When I look for a foundation, I always look for a formula that is hydrating yet gives off a long-lasting finish without caking up in the middle of the day. The first time I applied Make Up For Ever’s Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation, I was sold by how lightweight and moisturising it was. The foundation instantly sank into my skin upon application, delivering a natural satin finish. It felt like second skin! The formula is watery yet buildable if you prefer more coverage. I used two pumps to get the medium coverage I like. No creases or streaks seen at all.
However, the foundation isn’t as long-lasting as I wish for it to be. It can last for approximately six to seven hours before it starts to wear off and the oil on my skin seeps through, especially at T-zone even after setting it with powder and setting spray. That aside, I love how weightless the foundation is and I would recommend it to someone who prefers a natural-looking foundation without looking overdone.
Next up, the Microfinishing Pressed Powder in Translucent. Living up to its name the powder is super silky, a finely milled powder with an ultra velvety texture. It provides a blurring effect, giving off a coveted matte, flawless and smooth finish. No need for Meitu Xiuxiu selfie filters as this gives off a soft focus effect on the skin! Perfect for the humid weather in Singapore! In terms of oil control, it keeps the shine at bay, but a fair amount of touching up is required especially if you’re outdoors. But I must say, it does its job pretty well in controlling oil and smoothing out lines, especially for my combination skin, where a quick touch-up is necessary all the time no matter how long-wearing my foundation or powder is. The sleek and compact packaging makes it easy for me to carry it around, too. No more excuses not to look ultra flawless anymore!
