The Cult Favourite Colour That Honestly Never Seems To Disappoint

A cheeky name for possibly the most famous blush ever. Die-hard fan Xue (@grumpymeg) test drives the entire Orgasm collection for extra measure.

Welcome to KULALA Beauty Club, where YOU our dear readers help us suss out the best in the beautysphere. This week, we brought back Xue (@grumpymeg) to review the Orgasm set from NARS. Read her last review here.

This week’s KULALA Beauty Pack unwrapped into three NARS products of different shapes and forms: the Satin Lipstick, Liquid Blush and Powder Blush, all in the cult favourite Orgasm shade. I already own the Orgasm Powder Blush in the limited edition size, and I use it every single time I have makeup on, either on its own or layered with other blushes. In fact, it’s the very first blush that I own, and have received a ton of compliments for it.

Orgasm Liquid Blush on my left, and Powder Blush on my right. Can you tell the difference?

The shimmer that the blusher gives me is this beautiful golden glow that immediately brightens up my face, with no highlighter needed. The powder blush is actually quite pigmented and lasts the entire day. Since I’ve gotten good results with this blush, I’ve recommended it to a friend who has fairer skin and it didn’t disappoint.

From the packaging, the liquid blusher looked a lot pinker than the powder form, and didn’t seem to have the same shimmer that I love. In order to see the difference, I applied the liquid blusher on my left cheek, and the powder one on my right. My boyfriend couldn’t spot the difference, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that the liquid actually had the same highlight-effect. I must say, the liquid blush is VERY pigmented and only needed a tiny drop for a gorgeous flush. Although it’s easy to blend out, I still prefer the powder form as it gives better control. Once or twice, I ended up looking like a baboon from having dabbed on too much liquid blush,  and launched into frantic rubbing of my cheeks to remove the excess colour.

Last but not least, the satin lipstick! The peachy-pink base is very flattering, but a single swipe will not be opaque enough to cover the lips. I must say that the shimmer pigments in it are very prominent, though, and can be layered for a more intense look. It also lives up to its name and feels extremely soft and lightweight.

I have no doubts as to why the Orgasm shade is so popular. Personally, I feel that it’ll compliment most, if not all skin tones. Even though the whole set worked perfectly, I would still choose the powder blush if I were given a choice to only keep one. It’s natural, pigmented, buildable, long-lasting and you can be sure that I’ll be using this for a long long time.
