Prada’s Spring Runway Beauty Looks Were Familiar Yet Otherwordly

Baby bangs! Drawn on lashes! Barely-there brows! The team went to great lengths to bring Mrs. Prada's vision to life.

Slicked back hair, eyebrows concealed and very, very matte skin, the girls that walked the Prada Spring/Summer 2019 show were almost alien-like, yet playful and went well with the young, bright outfits.

The inspiration behind the looks came from Twiggy. You know, big eyelashes Twiggy, barely there brows and not to mention, ICONIC. Lashes for the models were dramatically drawn on using big strokes, with mascara and black eyeshadow piled on. It had everything to do with the swinging sixties, and paired especially well with the baby doll dresses and thick hairbands.

Complete with baby bangs and a smidge of gloss on the lips, the girls exuded a different form of femininity that we all can transform into our own day to day looks. To recreate this for an everyday look, keep things simple everywhere else except the eyes. Kohl black eyeliner, eyeshadow and lashes laden with a dozen coats of mascara (we’re exaggerating, but keep combing till you’re satisfied) are essential.

For The Lashes

What you really need here is both a voluminising and lengthening mascara that doesn’t clump. Sounds tough, huh? But this Grand Entrance Dramatic Volume Mascara by Elizabeth Arden promises just that. The curved wand makes application a breeze and coats each lash without excessive flaking or clumping. And, even if it does, embrace it. That’s what this look’s all about.

For The Fake Lashes

For this special look, your regular pen or gel eyeliner will not cut it. Something thicker, one that glides on in thicker strokes will do just the trick. This pigment-rich Rock ‘N’ Kohl Liquid Eye Pencil by Charlotte Tilbury will also come in handy for smokey-eye looks in the future, so don’t worry about it being a one-off thing!

For The Lips

Any regular gloss lying around would do the trick just fine, but this blue lip gloss is what you want, really. The colour of this Apa Blue Lip Shine might throw you off a bit, but the blue against your teeth will make it appear whiter. Think about warm and cool tones. It looks great on its own, but it can also be worn over lipsticks.
