The Secrets To This Creative Director’s Crystal Clear Skin
We're talking baby smooth with no pore in sight. We asked T Singapore's creative director and our homie Jack Wang (@jackwangg) to go into serious detail.
| March 21, 2018While I consider myself blessed with good skin for the most part, my work as the creative director at T Singapore exposes my skin to conditions like frequent air travel, especially on red-eye flights, unfamiliar climates, insufficient sleep during crunch periods and the ever-present problem of dry, office air. This means the occasional bout of dry, stressed skin and redness – and that is when I pull out all the stops on top of my personal skincare routine.
For prep in the day, I cleanse my face with the ReFa Cream Wash via the ReFa CLEAR. I sometimes switch with the Dr. Barbara Sturm Cleanser. I then pat on a customised serum from Kiehl’s, which I use as a facial oil in the morning and night, followed by the Aveda Botanical Kinetics Hydrating Lotion (I use the Intense Hydrating Rich Creme instead when in a cold, dry climate), La Mer The Lifting Eye Serum and Dr. Jart Ceramidin Lip Care. In the daytime, I also put on the Sun Drops and Glow Drops from Dr. Barbara Sturm. Exfoliation plays a big part in clear skin. I like Skin Inc’s Pure Revival Peel for this, which I use once a week.
If you were wondering, yes – I do use makeup, though it is more to conceal spots and even out my skin tone. I start with sunblock, specifically the Ultra Light Daily UV Defense from Kiehl’s, followed by the VDL Lumilayer Primer Fresh and the Hera UV Mist Cushion Ultra Moisture, both which give my skin that lit-from-within look. For spots and dark circles, I turn to YSL Beauty’s Touche Eclat and Cle De Peau’s Correcteur Visage Concealer. Everything is set in place with Urban Decay’s All Nighter Long Lasting Setting Spray, which I find hydrating and illuminating at the same time.
I think my “skin secrets” are pretty common ones, but I suppose it is when the going gets busy that we forget these simple things. Hydrating your body with plenty of warm water is important. (I like to add some lemon and honey.) I drink a glass of water filled with chia seeds and honey, and throughout the day I have one or two cups of tea, green or peppermint, with no coffee at all. I also carry a face mist wherever I go – Skin Inc’s Pure Serum Mist is my go-to – to hydrate my skin when I feel that it is getting dry as I go about my day. Finally, I am a firm believer in face oils. I use one drop when I’m in regular, familiar weather and increase it to three when I’m in colder climates, where I like to drop it into my moisturiser for quicker and more even application.
