The All-In-One Lip, Cheek and Eye Palette That Is PERFECT For Travelling

Complete with its own brush set, hear what our reader Nicolette (@nicoletteow) has to say about the hits from this holiday collection.

Welcome to KULALA Beauty Club, where YOU our dear readers help us suss out the best in the beautysphere. This week, we have (@nicoletteow) who is a self-care advocate with a soft spot for beauty products that are all about enhancing your natural skin, not covering it. She brings us her review of Yves Saint Laurent’s Beauty Holiday Collection.

I was thrilled to receive YSL Beauty’s Dazzling Lights Holiday Collection in my beauty pack when it arrived in my mailbox. I’ve heard praises about their products, and had high hopes for the luxury brand.

First up, the Couture Palette. It’s great for travelling – or as a gift – as it comes with a highlighter, four eyeshadows and two lip tints. The shades apply smoothly and can help transition your look from day to night, especially when you’re on the go. Plus, there’s no need for you to bring any sort extra brushes in your handbag, for it comes with its own mini set.

I’m not going to lie, I was confused when I first saw the Touche Éclat Pen. Was it a gloss? Nope, it turned out to be a liquid highlighter that dispenses product onto the brush when you click the back of the pen. How handy! Even though it’s not as illuminating as powder highlighters, it does brighten and conceal areas of your face that helps with uneven skin tone.

As for the Rouge Pur Couture lipsticks, I love how luxurious they look. The classic gold case is impeccably shiny (perfect for the KiraKira+ app) and the engraved YSL monogram adds a nice touch. It’s got a buttery formula that helps to retain moisture, which is great for days where my lips are on the drier end. The downside, however, is that they are not smudge-proof. I especially like the siren red shade I received, and can see myself wearing it a whole lot.

I didn’t particularly like the Set & Matte Lip Coat. It didn’t fare well for me, and changed the colour of the aforementioned Rouge Pur lipstick. You probably have to put a very thin layer on, otherwise it’ll take a long time to dry matte and risk leaving an unsightly white residue on your lips.

My favourite of the lot has to be the Couture Variation Palette. I received the Tuxedo 02 set, and it ticks all the boxes when it comes to a good eyeshadow palette. Pigmented and easy to blend, the 10 colours range from nude to purples, greys and blacks, available in both matte and glitter. As someone who is so used to going for warm and summery shades for eyeshadow, I’m excited to explore more dramatic looks with this palette. Just in time for the holiday season too!
