"I use the Innisfree Eco Safety Perfect Sunblock. It's for dry skin, so when I put it on, my skin looks dewy. There's also the Estee Edit Glow Face + Eye Palette which has six different island-y colours. I add a bit of it on my face for highlighting. As for lips, I use Peripera's Ink Airy Velvet. It's cheap, lasts all day, feels velvety and leaves a pretty pink tint on your lips. It's the best tint ever."

"I always bring paper masks from Farmacy. Their masks are great because they're made from coconut fibre, so the entire thing is biodegradable. It sticks to your skin, too, so it's more effective that way. I also aways use La Prairie's Skin Caviar Concealer Foundation, which has SPF in it. Finally, face mists – I just use Evian's."

"The Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser for my face and my body. There's also the Guerlain Terracotta Sun Protect SPF 15, which has a tan booster, and Cle De Peau's Radiant Stick Foundation. I use it as a concealer, the coverage is really light."

"I have this oil from Kiehl's, the Daily Reviving Concentrate which has sunflower oil in it. I also use the Laguna bronzer from NARS and the Modern Renaissance Palette that I recently bought from Anastasia Beverly Hills. As for skin, I use sunscreen from Kiehl's and L'occitane's Almond Milk Concentrate."

"The Control Corrective Skincare Oil-Free Sunscreen, because it's the only one that isn't too white and doesn't hurt my eyes when I swim. I'm not much for a lot of makeup on the beach. I like the lip balm from Tata Harper because it's really light – and it's organic. I love their moisturiser, too. I also like the tints from Benefit and peachy shades from NARS' Dual-Intensity Blush range."

When you have a group of women gathered around a table, whether lunch, dinner or tea, the conversation will, at some point or another, turn to beauty and wellness. (There’s nothing wrong with liking makeup and skincare, okay?) Even more so when you’re on an island and the sun is beating down hard. Glowing skin, hydrated puckers and that quest to perfect that no-makeup makeup look suddenly seem more relevant than a statement lip or hardcore contouring.

So, when we were half working and half playing in the Maldives, we saw fit to ask our fellow vacay-work mates – Irene Kim, Vanessa Hong, Justine Lee, Jane Chuck and Liz Uy – about their top three (some more) under-the-sun beauty essentials. Trust me when I say that these ladies know what they’re talking about. All of them have amazing skin. If they were wearing any makeup at all, it stayed on from morning to night, all through snorkelling, cruises and campfire dinners. Grab your notebook, scroll through the gallery above and take all the notes you need. You’re welcome.
