So many beauty products, so little time to test them all. Every month, we suss out the best in the beauty business, whether its makeup, skincare, fragrances or haircare, so that you can build up your arsenal of beauty products in no time. Some of it are brand new releases, others are cult classics. Finding the best products that work for you is all about trial and error, and we’re here to quicken the process and lessen the pain. Onward to Episode 1 of our “Best of Beauty” series!
1. Fresh’s The Original Brown Sugar Polish
Chockfull of moisture from primrose, sweet almond, apricot kernel, jojoba and citrus oils, with grainy brown sugar crystals to slough away all the dead skin. Even so, it’s not too rough on the skin – good for sensitive skin – and there’s no need to apply on moisturiser after. A time-saving product that does more than it lets on is our kind of product. It smells amazing too.
2. Stila’s Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner
There are very few liquid eyeliners out there that are as hardy as this cult-favourite gem from Stila. Team Kulala’s Candice, who spent years looking for THE perfect liquid eyeliner, swears by it. (Another liquid eyeliner that comes very, very close is Clio’s Kill Black Waterproof Brush Liner.) It’s easy to use and dries very quickly for minimal smudging, yet it’s very easy to remove. What kind of black magic is this? The thin brush also allows for easy drawing of thin lines, perfect for nailing that cat eye.
3. Becca’s Backlight Priming Filter
Primer, foundation, illuminator – it’s all of it. Infused with something called Filtering Luminescent Pearl that actually catches light – again, what sorcery is this? – this three-in-one is super lightweight and easy to apply, and it truly does give your face an instant glow. We find that it works really well in tropical weather too. Buh-bye, melting.
4. Dr. Jart’s Water Replenishment Mask
We’ve said this before and we’ll say it again – make sheet masks your new best friends. This Dr. Jart mask is fast and effective in restoring moisture to your face, making it highly suitable for travelling or moments when you need a quick-fix. Despite its prowess, the mask is gentle on the skin, so sensitive skin types have nothing to fear.
5. Phyto Subtil Elixir
Two words – instant fix. Made with a blend of oils and Vitamin E, this hair oil mainly targets damaged to dry hair, but I like to use it to keep my hair bouncy and shiny. It’s excellent for long hair too. Ultra moisturising with no oily residue, I like to run the Subtil Elixir through the tips of my hair 15 minutes before showering for maximum effect.
