The First Aid Beauty Kit to Fix Your Skin Emergencies
Our reader Esther put a Fab First Aid Beauty emergency kit to the test – did it save her day or was there a need to call for reinforcement?| November 28, 2019
Welcome to KULALA Beauty Club, where YOU our dear readers help us suss out the best in the beautysphere. This week, we brought back Esther (@estheryphoto) with her review of Fab First Aid Beauty’s Priming Paradise kit. Read her last review here.
Fab First Aid Beauty prides itself on using skin-friendly ingredients to make products that provide instant relief. Which means, and as their name suggests, their products should be the go-to for beauty emergencies. Prior to this, I had never heard of the brand. So when their Priming Paradise kit landed in my mailbox, I was very eager to test the performance of these supposed lifesavers. The box was beach and coconut-themed, and contained both pocket to medium-sized essentials that I regularly used over the course of 3 weeks. In order of my least to most favourite, here are my final thoughts:
I started using the No Way, José: Coconut Micellar Makeup Melter during an actual emergency when I had ran out of makeup remover. The translucent gel had a thicker consistency and did the job of clearing makeup on areas like my cheeks and forehead. However, around sensitive areas like the eyes and lips, there was an undeniable burning sensation – yikes. It also took major effort to remove my everyday waterproof eyeliner which caused me to toss the produce aside pretty quick. Unfortunately, the Makeup Melter would probably worsen an emergency rather than save the situation.
Second in line is the Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturiser. This product doubles up as a moisturiser and a primer which I found particularly useful on days I had to rush out of the house. The cream glides smoothly and appears beige-tinted, but once spread over the skin, it sits totally unnoticeable and feels luxuriously lightweight. My skin was glowing and plump every single time I applied the moisturiser. Therefore, purely because I get to skip steps when I absolutely need to, this product gets a nod from me.
The winner from the range for me was the Absolute Essential: Coconut Water Cream. This was the product that I least expected to deliver, but boy was I wrong. The translucent, watery gel feels cool and refreshing on the skin. It absorbs fairly quick and doesn’t feel tacky at all – perfect for when you have to put makeup on right after a shower. I also tried adding this as a step before my regular moisturiser, and the combination worked wonders. My skin felt extra plump the next morning. Though the coconut scent is a little stronger in this one, you’d be glad to know there are no artificial fragrances used in this entire kit. 10/10 would get the full-sized bottle for this one!
