Welcome to KULALA Beauty Club, where YOU our dear readers help us suss out the best in the beautysphere. This week, we have Gladys Neo (@theegladys) and her review of Burberry’s Glow Kit. Gladys is your average university student cum beauty enthusiasts who is constantly buried in assignments, beauty wish lists and online shopping carts. Read her last review here.
I’ve tried the Burberry Blush Palette and Luminous Highlighting Powder before and really enjoyed them, so I was really looking forward to trying out the foundation sticks and liquid lipsticks this time round.
Foundation sticks don’t normally appeal to me due to Singapore’s heat and humidity, but was pleasantly surprised to find that it glided smoothly on my skin. The lightweight, medium-coverage formula is cream-based, ultra blendable and sat well with a dusting of powder. With the shades 42 (Camel) and 11 (Porcelain) on hand, I used them as a contour and a highlight.
These Burberry Beauty Fresh Glow Gel Stick Foundation & Concealer lives up to its name, providing a lit-from-within look without any tacky glitters. It makes the skin appear plump and more moisturised. Despite this, I’ll still powder up, as my skin tends to produce sebum throughout the day.
I’ve never been the biggest fan of liquid lipsticks either, because of the dryness and precision needed, but I was willing to give the Burberry Beauty Liquid Velvet lipsticks a shot.
And, for the second time today, I was pleasantly surprised to find how comfortable the formula felt on the lips. It’s not sticky, but still moisturising and doesn’t cling on to dry skin. It leans towards a more velvety finish, so it’s mostly matte with just the right amount of sheen.
One swatch was all it needed to prove how pigmented and true-to-bottle the colour is. Bright Plum is a nice vibrant colour for the holidays and events, whereas Fawn Rose is a pinkish nude that’s perfect for everyday wear.
