The Unexpectedly Pink Charcoal Mask That’s Perfect For Selfies

Ever wondered how different a bubblegum pink charcoal mask would differ from the original one? Our reader Naomi breaks it down for you.

Welcome to KULALA Beauty Club, where YOU our dear readers help us suss out the best in the beautysphere. This week, we have Naomi Tham (@naomitham_) and her review of the Boscia Luminizing Pink Charcoal Mask. Read her last review here.

Liquid bubble-gum, anyone? For a pink-obsessed human, this was good enough to trigger a squeal. It’s just too cute with the little dainty font, doodles and a good pun – “I’m peeling myself”. But, that’s not all. The pink tube also dispenses a mask paste in the very same shade. Was this perhaps made in a Barbie factory?

The peel-off mask promises better, brighter and more radiant skin, just like any other one. That didn’t mean I wasn’t still excited to see if the goop could cleanse my pores, reduce the number of blackheads and pores, all while experiencing the satisfying peeling process. I have to say, it isn’t the easiest mask to apply because of the thick and gooey consistency – but that’s normal for a peel-off mask. It felt quite cooling, and is good for relaxing after a tiring day.

After 15 to 20 minutes, my skin felt tight, and it was pretty easy to separate the product from my skin. The process was rather cathartic I might add. I was expecting some pain, no lie, because I have baby hairs on my face, but it managed to be completely pain-free. Upon closer inspection, I did notice that some peach fuzz type hairs were removed from my skin, along with dead skin that was clinging to the surface.

As a result, my skin did feel smoother, but it didn’t, sadly, remove some of my blackheads. It may take a few more times, and it could actually be a blessing in disguise as that would mean that it is not overly strong, which could be potentially agitating for the skin.

Overall, I liked the experience of using the mask and would recommend those starting out with peel-off masks to start with this. It’s pretty gentle, does the job of removing surface debris and the pink is just really fun for silly selfies. I would totally bring this for a slumber party.
