Treat Yo’ Self: 7 Beauty Splurges To Make This Week

Having enough beauty sleep is a must for good skin, so take it up a notch with these bedtime essentials that will repair, restore and hydrate overnight.
|

Tucking into bed at night with a book and a warm drink in hand after a long day is on the list of life’s simple joys. What’s not to love about it? Sleeping helps to reset your body, reboot those energy levels and turn on the your skin’s repair mode. “Beauty sleep” is something that gets tossed around a lot, only because there is more than certain truth to it. It’s really what goes on before stepping into bed, however, that really makes the most difference.

A good nighttime skincare routine will help the skin achieve that sought-after glow, sometimes overnight. It should include a good cleanser, toner, serum and a choice of moisturiser that can either be a cream or an oil. (Sometimes both, depending on the climate.) An acid-based exfoliator three to four times a week is also essential in helping all your skincare penetrate the skin by removing a layer of dead skin cells.

To go the extra, extra mile for that I-woke-up-like-this freshness, a good overnight mask for the added boost of hydration and nutrients can be applied once or twice a week. Below, we’ve rounded up seven of our favourite products to slather on pre-slumber.

Sunday Riley C.E.O. C + E Micro-Dissolve Cleansing Oil

If you’ve never used a cleansing oil, you’re missing out. This is the kind of stuff that’s made for lazy people that solves multiple problems at once. It removes makeup, impurities, gently exfoliates the skin and clears blocked pores, too. Amazing, right?

3Lab Perfect Balancing Toner

A good toner should be free from alcohol as it dries out the skin. This one by 3Lab moisturises, calms and restores your skin’s natural barrier with hyaluronic acid, green tea and gingko nut biloba. Using it with a cotton pad can also help to wipe away any left over impurities that might have been left out by cleansers.

Dr. Barbara Sturm Hyaluronic Serum

There’s nothing better than a burst of hydration to the skin that comes in the form of hyaluronic acid, a substance that goes into the skin and attracts water to it. That means, you’ll wake up with a glow and supple skin. It’s also free from mineral oils and synthetic fragrances, so you can rest easy without worrying about any inflammation or irritation.

Perricone MD High Potency Evening Repair

A face cream at night is essential for locking in all the good stuff put before, as well as delivering other benefits such as resurfacing, brightening and anti-aging. This one by Perricone also contains the widely-loved ingredient, retinol, that boosts radiance and reduces fine lines and wrinkles.

Rodin Lavender Face Oil

Face oils do so much for the skin – repairing, hydrating and sometimes even promote collagen production. Yes, they’re amazing. This one by Rodin has a combination of rosehip, neroli and evening primrose, three power-packed oils that will help you achieve that glowy and dewy skin in the morning. It’s also mixed with lavender, which helps to relax the mind and allow you to sleep peacefully.

Omorovicza Acid Fix

Omorovicza’s Acid Fix is your answer to at-home chemical peels, removing impurities and exfoliating the surface that will help with cell turnover and cleaner skin. Not only that, salicylic acid is included in the mix, helping to clear up acne and pigmentation issues, while lactic acid reduces fine lines and wrinkles. It promises a more glowing and radiant complexion overnight.

Allies of Skin 1A Overnight Mask

An overnight mask is important once or twice a week to ensure that your skin is getting enough hydration and nutrients that it needs. While you sleep, this one treats fine lines, blemishes, sun damage and enhances elasticity for bouncy and glowy skin the next morning. Formulated without silicones, parabens, sulfates and synthetic fragrances, the restorative properties are coupled with a blend of argan, cranberry seed and cloud berry seed oils to deliver hydration to the skin.
