Our reader Mishu test drives Urban Decay's new Naked Shapeshifter. You'd be amazed at what this skinny palette can do.| August 17, 2017
Welcome to KULALA Beauty Club, where YOU our dear readers help us suss out the best in the beautysphere. This week, we brought back Mishu (@papermartini) to review Urban Decay’s new Naked Skin Shapeshifter. Read her last review here.
The Naked Skin Shapeshifter, the latest contouring kit by Urban Decay once again elevates contouring to a whole new level. At first glance, the packaging is stunningly sleek, a signature of Urban Decay’s ever-popular Naked series. I believe it was love at first sight.
Next up, a closer look at its character and substance. Holding this palette for the first time, I thought that it was lightweight and portable, perfect to take along with you wherever you’re heading. Opening up the palette, I was greeted with a total of a whopping nine shades: four powders on one side and five creams on the other along with a double-sided mirror. It’s so exciting! It’s the kind of palette I’d never be bored with. I found myself spoilt for choice!
The palette definitely is all-encompassing for a full makeup look and for that magical mid-day touch-up, whether it is adding extra highlighting, contouring or concealer. Given the range of colour options to choose from, you can do so many different looks with just one palette. I especially like the cream – the texture is buttery smooth and soft to the touch. It worked well for my skin. I blended the light cream along with the dark cream with my beauty blender, and it created the perfect shadow illusion that I wanted. My features were nicely accentuated, so much so that my friends commented on my face looking sharper. The only drawback is that it is time-consuming to blend the cream and set it. Then again, there’s no beauty without effort.
The powders are finely milled with a luxurious silky texture that achieve that light-catching sheen. It blends seamlessly and rolls over my skin without caking. I particularly love the healthy, natural glow I get from it without that flashy glittery effect that some highlighters have. I suggest using it dry for a subtle glow and with a damp beauty blender for a more intense illumination that stays comfortably all day long, even in sweltering heat and humidity.
If you thought that was all this sleek palette is capable of, you’ll be stoked to know how the darker shade can double as a bronzer or even an eye shadow. It gave me that perfect sun-kissed glow. Endless possibilities packed into one palette, so it’s a yes from me!
