15 Outfits From Down Under That’ll Inspire Your End-Of-Spring Wardrobe

Fashion Week Australia is alive and so is the street style scene. If you're all dried up on outfit inspo until summer rolls around, it's the Aussies to the rescue.

So much is happening in Sydney! We weren’t able to make it for this year’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia due to our makeshift world tour, but that doesn’t mean we haven’t been keeping up with all the street style business. As always, the street style scene in Australia is a reminder that, at the end of the day, comfort truly is key. If you’re not comfortable, it shows and discomfort is not a good look.

While street style in Milan and Paris is no stranger to surprises and varying degrees of maximalism, it is in Australia where lessons in practical (but not boring!) layering and laid-back (again, not boring!) dressing can be learnt. Corsets over loose shirts, mildly oversized vintage dresses, trench coats as dresses, breezy backless blouses with tailored pants – it’s a kind of two-for-one dressing that we can get on board with. (To that one lady/gentleman who stuck a Supreme sticker over her/his Louis Vuitton bag, we tip our hats to you. Can’t get your hands on the Supreme for Louis Vuitton collection? Make your own!)

Aside from the outpouring of all things checked, a trend that shows no sign of going away anytime soon, we’re also seeing a lot of red (also another supersized trend for Fall/Winter 2017) and fuss-free micro bags, especially those in wicker, straw and raffia from the MBFWA crowd. Regardless of whether summer is in the air for you or not, it looks like the picnic bag is here to stay.
