5 Foolproof Summer Outfits That Don’t Require Shorts
Check out of the denim department and into these heat-friendly looks before the last days of summer are over.| September 5, 2017
Oh, the summer in September. Honestly we can’t remember the last time we went home without being drenched in our own sweat. Gross, much? While we cannot wait for cooler weather to roll around, we realise we too have been quietly and conveniently maximising our denim shorts mileage more than we should have. Oops.
They say out of sight, out of mind – so put aside those denim shorts! That’s right, hide them a corner and replace them with anything from a high-waist pant to floor length pinafore paired with a white shirt to achieve the same effect!
But what else is there outside the sphere of the denim short? Plenty, plenty we say! We have five very cute summer looks to cop, taking cue from Yoyo and the yellow pinafore she wore in the street of Tokyo in the middle of blazing hot July to Fei Fei Sun’s effortless off-duty shirt dress. Our homie Kim Jones makes the case for the elaborate one-shoulder – like this new arrival from Exhibit – a less troublesome yet equally airy alternative to the off-shoulder. Go forth and soak up the Vitamin D while it lasts!
Don’t get caught looking like a child with the wrong combination – wear it with a breezy cotton high-neck shirt. Or go solo!
Everyone loves a good staple. Pick one made out of comfortable cotton and you’ll be wearing it all year long, lazy days or otherwise.
Leave the denim cut-offs behind. Jazz up that tropical printed top with wide legged trousers or midi skirt instead.
Going bare without actually going bare.
What better way to tell everyone that you are embracing the heat by showing a shoulder or two.
