A Holiday Style Guide Courtesy of the AMA’s Red carpet

'Tis the season to be jolly, Fa, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la! As your inboxes start filling up with invites to parties, it's about time to start thinking about your looks for the holidays.
|

Now that we have gone back a decade in time with TSwift during her medley of greatest hits at the American Music Awards (AMAs) and returned, we can now properly focus on the other things that drew our attention at the show. To be honest, rather than anticipating who won what, I’m that girl who is far more interested in who wore what.

Every year, the AMAs red carpet is a promise land of unbridled fun on the fashion end. Being a notch below the Grammy Awards in formality means plenty of room to play around with wardrobe options. Don’t get me wrong, I love me a good carpet sweeping goddess-esque evening gown moment but that’s what ANYONE would expect from ANY red carpet.

At the AMAs, however, celebrity A-listers have a knack for stepping out of the box and I mean, WAY out of the box – can we ever forget Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake’s #twinning Canadian tuxedo moment or Chrissy Teigen’s barely there dress held together by a single safety pin? This year, just as they have in the ones before, Tinseltowners DELIVERED with the looks and along with it, plenty of style inspiration for the upcoming festive season.

Most of us don’t think of a red carpet look beyond the reacting to it with oohs and ahhs but if you were to really take a moment to study the ensembles, you’d be surprised at just how much of it you can borrow from. Here, we take cues from the best red carpet moments at this year’s AMAs to kill it at every party you attend this festive season. Take it from…

…Lizzo that a bag does not always have to be functional. It could just as well be a great conversation starter to ease yourself into a holiday party.

…Selena Gomez, you’re not making a fashion faux pas by matching your dress to your shoes.

…Lil Nas X on how to make an entrance. Animal print AND neon in the same outfit? 100 percent yes.

…Ciara that there is more to holiday dressing than slinky short dresses. Opt for a power pant-suit instead – a shirt inside completely optional.

…Taylor Swift to shine bright like a diamond. Sequins and glitter will never go out of trend for the holidays.

…Dua Lipa, the brighter the colour, the better!

…Billie Eilish that accessories can make or break an outfit – pick wisely.
