A Love Letter To Tokyo, Written With Fendi
I returned to one of my absolute favourite cities in the world with a growing obsession with Fendi's monogram Spring/Summer '18 collection in tow. A match made in heaven.| September 5, 2018
Out of all the places in the world, Tokyo has always been a place where the culture, food and architecture speak out to me like no other. Perhaps, it’s the ever-bustling streets of Harajuku, the brightly coloured sedan taxis or the quaint vintage stores at the turn of each corner. In a place like this, it’s easy to let yourself get lost, especially when there is a never-ending flow of glorious food.
Which is why, I decided to have a bit of fun and shoot a few of my favourite looks from Fendi’s Fall/Winter 2018 collection, one that puts forth the powerful, feminine woman. The city’s elegance can be easily overshadowed by the cute – or kawaii – sides that many tend to see surface deep. But, in all seriousness, the way it comes alive brings a whole other vibe to the table.
The thought of every little bit of space on your clothes being filled with a logo may seem like an overkill, but when it comes to Fendi’s double “F”, it just works. It looks immediately timeless. The colours, the textures and material all come together like a fine blend of teas, wearable and effortless, something that doesn’t come by very often. Velvet, patent and snake print are just a few to name.
I can’t emphasise how versatile and easy cowboy boots are. These white Fendi ones are just the perfect walking heel height, and are hands down the most versatile and comfortable pair of shoes for the trip, surprising as that might be.
In many ways, Fendi’s Fall/Winter 2018 is like Tokyo, a city that is a long-standing favourite of mine. Like Tokyo, the collection has that ability to make stand-out statement while evoking an enviable calm, like walking in the middle of the Shibuya Crossing in the height of the day and being completely at ease. And, like how I’ll never tire of Tokyo – I feel everyone feels the same about the city, really – it seems like I’m nowhere close to retiring Fendi’s phenomenal monogram just yet.
