A Study In Street Style: Linda Tol
The Dutch-born stylist and buyer has and will always be on our street style radar, but we dig a little deeper into why she's a favourite.| October 30, 2018
They say the best runway is the one on the streets. The runway is where the official action happens, but it is on the streets that real style, worn by real people, is born. In “A Study In Street Style”, we turn the spotlight on some of the most notable street style stars of industry. If ever you’re dry on outfit inspiration, just check back here. We guarantee you’ll leave with at least a handful of styling ideas. That, or your (imaginary) money back.
She’s platinum blonde, badass, and a regular street style icon on the fashion week circuit. A Dutch-born stylist, buyer, and overall super-cool influencer, it’s all eyes on the triple threat we have come to know as Linda Tol. How does she stay so edgy and cool all the time? Nobody knows, but her signature androgynous and nonchalant style is really helping her to be fashion’s favourite muse.
For Linda, it seems that less is more. It’s all about sophistication and layering. It isn’t about how many statement pieces you have, or how much of an expert you are on mismatched patterns. A typical outfit for Tol is a basic white shirt, a pair of jeans in that covetable vintage-but-not-quite cut and a trench coat. Nothing too fancy and nothing too over the top. Style is all about personality, so carrying yourself the way you want to be seen is equally as important.
But, her fashion week game seems to run along a slightly different path. She still looks effortlessly androgynous and edgy, but her outfits now have a sleeker finish. A little more polished – as one does at fashion week, a little more like simple statement basics layered to perfection. Whether it’s a fully pink patent leather trench and trouser combo, or keeping it undeniably classy in a button down dress tucked into oversized tailored pants, Tol truly is the street style star we all hope to be. (Oh, the list never ends.)
If you ever want to replicate her edgy with a cause, but also incredible nonchalant style personality, we’ve picked out some items we believe Linda herself would be proud of. Scroll down and take a look for yourself.
