All My Fashion Week Looks – The #MFW Editionby Yoyo Cao
Considering that I only had two days to squeeze everything into my luggages, it is slightly miraculous that I managed to pull together enough outfits – with nothing crucial left behind back home – to last the span of Milan Fashion Week. Across the seasons, I’ve received many questions on how I plan my fashion week outfits and the answer is actually quite simple. I typically pick out key things that I want to wear each season and style a look from there, adding a hat, a belt or a pair of shoes along the way. Once a look is decided, I pack it into a bag and seal it till I need it.
It is important to not be bothered by whether the piece is “outdated” or out of season or not. A good piece is a good piece, no season will change that. Who cares about seasons now, anyway? I also always bring along basics that go with everything, just in case an outfit doesn’t work out at the last minute. A white sweater, a black turtleneck, same simple shoes, jeans in black and blue. It is sort of like bringing along a capsule wardrobe with you.
This season, I think my top pick goes to the looks I wore to Gucci and Fendi. One green, one red. How unintentionally festive. I’m still very much into patent at the moment, but each of these looks featured it quite subtly. One in a shoe – specifically a sock – and the other as a jacket. These looks also had a colour theme, which is something that I find quite fun to work with. I’m also just realising that they each featured a balance between feminine and masculine, what with the embroidered floral hat in the Gucci look and the embellished “Kan I” bag in the Fendi one. Which look do you like best? Tell me the comments below.
