Backstage Access: Etro Fall/Winter 2016
Enormous bouncers, dancing models and plenty of embroidery.| April 30, 2016
I’ve been backstage at several fashion weeks, but never at fashion week until Etro. Like so many first times, the experience wasn’t without hiccups, largely in the form of burly Italian bouncers who refused to let me pass without explaining why, even though I had a pass. I eventually slipped myself into the restricted section (perks of being the smallest person in the room!) and began snapping away happily until a member of the backstage crew noticed and very quickly – but kindly – ushered me behind the photographer’s line. It was then a battle with the taller photographers and their fancy schmancy cameras to capture the glorious details of Veronica Etro’s orient-meets-grunge-meets-1960s-bohemia collection, worn by a surprisingly jaunty line-up of models. Do you like the collection as much as we do?
