Backstage Access: Loewe Spring/Summer 2020
Here, we give you a closer look at how Jonathan Anderson adds a feminine flourish to his collection for Loewe through expert craftmanship and intricate details.| October 16, 2019
It’s no surprise that Loewe’s Spring/Summer 2020 collection left us swooning. After all, Jonathan Anderson has a knack for placing femininity at the forefront of his collections but always, always, without being overtly sensual. Drawing inspiration from the 16th century and 17th century, marguerite lace and laundered linen dominated the elegant creations he sent out on the runway. Think billowy outfits, extravagant sleeves, delicate beadwork and intricate lace details. Don’t even get us started on the accessories. An otherwise ordinary leather belt is lined with huge pearls and bags are now adorned with bead embellishments and carefully-constructed leather flowers. What’s more, the Gate bag is back with a vengeance and this time round, it comes with a fringe that swept the floor and us – metaphorically – off our feet. Consider us sold. Take a closer look at the collection in the gallery above.
