Mermaids, spell books and brocade – Prada's latest collection is even more interesting up-close.
| May 10, 2016When Miuccia Prada collaborates with an artist, it quite often results in a collection that people will remember for decades to come. Her latest with Berlin-based Christophe Chemin is one such example. Yet, while Chemin’s trippy, mythological prints provided the eye-popping factor, it was ultimately still Prada’s vision for the season and her unfailing knack for pursuing even the smallest of details that made the Fall/Winter 2016 collection her best in the recent seasons. It was theatrical, beautifully styled and just so darn interesting. Up-close, the collection gets even better. The brocade dresses revealed embroidery inspired by beach holiday shirts. Nautical inspirations weaselled their way into mermaid-shaped pendants and gold anchors on the heels. And oh, the accessories. The accessories. The tiny spell books just about did it for me. I didn’t try to open them, though.
