Backstage Access: Prada Spring/Summer 2020
Seashell necklaces, unfinished bucket hats and funky eyewear – come and take a closer look at Prada's latest collection.| October 13, 2019
The simplicity of Prada’s Spring/Summer 2020 collection gives us more room to pay our undivided attention to the fine details that Miuccia Prada pursued – immaculate styling, fine workmanship and the clever use of fabrics. A typical polo tee is made more sophisticated through the use of cashmere and silk; sequins and beads instantly elevate the gauze pieces they are embroidered to. Don’t forget the accessories, too. The unstructured bucket hats in snakeskin and nappa leather bear an unfinished look, much like several of the clothing pieces, invoking a sense of rawness and realness. The seashell necklaces, which turned the heads of many, were inspired by pearls that Mrs Prada wore all the time, as Anna Wintour revealed in a video for Vogue. When you add that alongside the leaf motifs, weaved bags and sandals, it gets real hard not to picture your next beach vacation. Perhaps it is a reminder that simplicity and returning to nature can come hand in hand. Be sure to read our full review of the collection here, if you haven’t already done so.
