Street Style Is Back Alive! Here’s What We Liked From #NYFW
All the sugar-free, zero-calorie eye candy you need for the rest of the week.
| September 19, 2016Fashion week is back! Which means street style is back! It is like they say – the best kind of runway is the one on the streets. Top-to-toe runway looks are a bit of a thing in the past, but that hasn’t stopped the street style pack from going to town with labels-of-the-moment Balenciaga and Vetements. (Those high-waisted stirrup jeans need to get into our closets, pronto.) Contrary to our predictions though, band and merch t-shirts were NOT all over the streets. They were there, but they were few. Thankfully. The track pant situation is still going quite strong, but it is nice to see that show-goers are turning to more than just Adidas for that. Chas Tenenbaum would be proud…we think.
New York City was like a certain Katy Perry song throughout the last week, blowing hot one moment and rather cold the other. How did the street style pack manage? Short-sleeved shirts, slip dresses and skirts that showed a little bit more than just leg for the former, and reconstructed denims (like these), tartan and patent (these are good as well) for the latter. Street style in NYC may be chill, but don’t mistake it for being dead. In the words of one Dr. Frankenstein, “It’s alive! IT’S ALIVE!”
