My Round-Up of The Best Shoes For Moms-To-Be
Things are changing and my wardrobe choices are as well. It's good-bye heels and hello to the comfiest sneakers in existence.| January 11, 2018
In case you guys didn’t get the memo – yes, I’m pregnant! As I wait for my little man to enter the world, I’ve found my wardrobe choices starting to evolve along as well. I’ve always been a big shoes person, so one of the biggest challenges in the wardrobe department is finding shoes that I like and fit my current needs as a mom-to-be. Stilettos and pointed boots are obviously not going to work for a while, so what else is there?
There are a ton of options outside the sphere of high-heels, but not any shoe will do. The first and most important thing I look out for when I’m on the hunt for a pair, is whether the shoe is safe or not. A good grip and a good sole are critical, especially with Singapore’s current perpetual grey skies and rain. Then, there’s the swelling and the added weight on the feet. A good amount of support in the form of foam or air in the sole and heel works wonders, which is why even a typical pair of flats isn’t enough.
Combine all of the above and you get the most practical and logical of options: sneakers. For me, I find myself gravitating towards my trusty six: Roger Vivier’s Sneaky Viv’, Nike’s Air Vapormax “Triple Black”, Air Max 97 and the Off-White x Nike Air Vapormax, and Chanel’s latest trainers.
Comfort is guaranteed with trainers and sneakers, but there’s more. My main six are all in the colours of black, white and grey and reasonably minimal, which means versatility. They’re also easy to slip on and off, the biggest draw when bending over becomes a challenge. When I need something a little more glammed up, Roger Vivier and Chanel are my top options. What’s more, chunky sneakers are back, so it all works out. Dear fellow moms-to-be, what are your top shoes of the moment?
