Brand To Know: Natasha Zinko

The Ukrainian-born, London-based designer is a rising favourite among the fashion month pack. Here's what you need to know about eclectic tough-meets-feminine eponymous label.

If Demna Gvasalia and Gosha Rubchinsk respective labels came together and had a love child, it probably would look a lot like Natasha Zinko. With notable deconstructed jeans to patchwork jackets, it has all the makings of a brand that would be loved by the street pack. Yet, something doesn’t quite fit that cookie-cutter, coveted but admittedly manufactured cool in Natasha Zinko…Natasha Zinko?

Noted by ELLE UK as one of the fastest growing brands coming out of London, the fiery-headed Zinko first started out as a jewellery designer before charting ready-to-wear territory in 2014. The Ukrainian-born, London-based designer has been perfecting and balancing her signature formula of polished rawness with a touch of eclecticism ever since. It can be 80s-meets-40s seen through pastels, polka dots and tweed in one season (Fall 2017), nautical gone street the next (Resort 2018) and a mix bag of deconstructed denim, camo and folklore florals over baggy boots (Spring 2018) following that.

To show just how street-ready her pieces are even though they may not always seem as so, turn to Zinko’s Instagram. Going beyond the usual look book and campaign images – in fact, these make up a minority of her feed – Zinko throws in posts of herself wearing her own pieces at various parts of her day. After all, no one is a better spokesperson for a brand then the designer herself. Of course, Zinko already has the approval from the fashion month crew – her pieces have been seen on everyone from Eva Chen and Leandra Medine to Tamu Mcpherson and Evangelie Smyrniotaki.
