What Everyone's Talking About

Brand to Know: Common Leisure

Streamlined shearling coats, buttery leather shirt, and pants co-ords, Common Leisure's propositions of winter wear redefine the genre.

Having spent our entire lives in a part of the world where the sun beats down relentlessly for the most part of the year, experiencing anything lower than 20-something degree weather is incredibly intimidating. For one, our bodies are definitely not made for (or accustomed to) the cold. And our wardrobes, just as unprepared.

If you’re not a frequent traveller (we’re talking pre-Miss Rona of course), layering up for winter takes a whole lot of planning. The first rule of dressing for the cold – you’d much rather be overprepared than underprepared. Hypothermia is a real thing and you really don’t want to be that person throwing off the itinerary to seek respite from the cold. Then, there’s also the part where you don’t want to look like a stuffed turkey or the Michelin Man from all the layering.

What does one do?

For starters, a fluffy coat is mandatory. It’s the cheat sheet to the winter wardrobe conundrum. They keep you nice and toasty without requiring multiple layers underneath. To land the perfect outerwear, you have to know where to look. One might not expect a sister duo from a Mediterranean town in Turkey to know anything about winter coats but the pair behind Common Leisure has it all figured out. Their shearling coats often cinched in at the waist with a belt have proven themselves to be the pièce de résistance of winter wardrobes – look no further than the street style set for proof.

Common Leisure’s winter wear propositions redefine the genre. A leopard print shearling blazer, a biker leather jacket with a shearling collar, a deep auburn shearling coat – layering for winter has never looked this good. Further diversifying from outerwear, the sister’s have in recent collections also introduced leather co-ords to the brand’s lineup. We’ll definitely be sticking around for more.
