Brand To Know: Fabrizio Viti
He's a shoe design veteran, an extraordinaire and an antique doll lover of all things. Today, we're introducing the next biggest shoe brand to look out for.| November 2, 2018
He was the man who has been behind Louis Vuitton’s women’s shoes for over a dozen years, the brains behind all the darling shoes that we’ve come to love. If you don’t know him already, then this might be a good time to start noticing. On this week’s Brand To Know, we’re introducing footwear designer and vintage doll-lover Fabrizio Viti.
Little known fact about Viti is that he is an art graduate with a major in sculpting. But, in 1995, he found himself designing shoes for Canadian-British shoemaker Patrick Cox. This might seem strange at first, but going from sculpting to footwear designing seems logical. Designing shoes for women is already an art form in itself – you’re studying every inch of the feet to create something out of nothing. Like sculpting. He then moved on to Gucci, and shortly after to Prada in 1999. His repertoire just keeps getting better and better.
It wasn’t until 2004 where he was offered the position of shoe director in Louis Vuitton. Over a dozen years later, we find ourselves obsessing over his namesake footwear brand that he founded fairly recently in 2016. Feminine, but with an edge, we cannot stop obsessing over the beautiful creations from this footwear designer extraordinaire. “Head over heels” seems to be the perfect description, because keeling over from the sheer brilliance of his kicks.
When it comes to designing, it seems that Viti isn’t afraid to be a little rebellious. We’re talking about chunky caged heels with daisies, thigh-high patent leather boots that were made for stomping and and kitten heel loafers that are embellished with golden patterns. It sounds like none of these designs would go together but lo and behold, Viti the shoe designer veteran makes it beautiful. Almost too good, to be honest. So, it comes with no surprise that it’s pretty hard to get a hold of his creations. Believe us, we’ve tried.
With that said, we simply cannot wait for Viti’s next collection. We’re excited to see how much further we can fall down this rabbit hole. We hope that Viti will continue to create beautiful sculptures that were built to last for our feet. It’s almost like a Cinderella effect – put on a pair of Fabrizio Viti’s and suddenly you’re ready to be whisked off to a fancy ball in a carriage made of sparkles and magic. Oh, we can only dream!
