Bulgari’s Spring Collection Is All About Studs, Hearts And Arrows
It seems like Bulgari has a skater girl on its mind, but she's not all rebel. See our highlights from the Spring '18 presentation in Milan. In collaboration with Bulgari.| November 1, 2017
Reinvention is not something that comes naturally to everyone. Luckily for us – though not so much for our wallets – such a conundrum does not exist for Bulgari. We saw the Roman house serving quirk and rock ‘n’ roll earlier in the year. Bulgari then switched gears to gold, black and geometry in its recent collaboration with Nicholas Kirkwood. Finally, there’s the “SERPENTIform” exhibition – the Singapore edition closed a couple of weeks ago, but you can view our favourite moments here – which showed a million and one ways to interpret Bulgari’s iconic Serpenti.
The most recent collection we saw at Milan Fashion Week is a testament to that evolution. Instead of the usual giant, velvety ottomans that Bulgari typically places in the epicentre of its presentations, there was a miniature skate park, punctuated with gold spray cans, skateboards and micro Serpenti Forever bags. The little things – on skateboards!
It’s clear that Bulgari’s got a rebel on its mind, but she has a certain sweetness. A rose with thorns. Chain bags of pink, red, white and green are embellished with elegant pearly studded snakes and the words “FOREVER” are the season’s key pieces. Bulgari even puts a spin on the classic arrow-through-heart tattoo with the new Pop Heart, where a pair of snakes, each bearing an arrow, come together to form a heart. Clever. There are glittery clutches and metallic micros for the ladies who dine, but these are bags that will work 24/7 as long as you let it. Browse the Spring/Summer ’18 collection in the gallery above.
