We Can’t Stop Wearing Jewel Tones
It looks like purple is the warmest colour for us this fall season. What about you?| November 7, 2016
Of the four seasons of the year, there’s no better time to wear blacks and greys than the fall. As the sky turns gloomier, dark colours make sense. Gives you more of the feels, you know?
But who says you can’t wear vibrant colours amid the grey skies and the cold air? Enter jewel tones, colours inspired by gemstones like amethyst, emerald, ruby and topaz. Both vibrant and moody at the same time, these deep hues are perfect for those who like a little colour for fall without going too bright. (If you want to dab some jewel tones on your eyelids as well, don’t let us stop you.)
It is one of the reasons why I decided to inject some jewel tones into Exhibit’s Fall/Winter 2016 collection. There’s something so romantic about these deep jewel tones and fall is such a romantic season. When you couple them with textures like velvet and satin, the vibrance of the colours really pop. You get simple yet statement pieces that you can dress down in the day and dress up at night.
Here, I paired a purple satin blouse – a favourite from the collection – with a pair of cropped flares (shop both here and here), flat ankle boots and a unique multiway leather bag from South Korean label, EENK. While the look is already quite day-to-night, you can amp the nighttime factor with some pointed black stiletto boots or some serious party shoes. Jeans – like how my girl Evangelie a.k.a Style Heroine styled hers – can easily transform the blouse into a daytime piece. The fluted elongated sleeves and shine give you all the details and drama you need. Tell me – how would you style this purple blouse?
