Playing Dress Up (And Down!) With Charles & Keith

The Singapore-based shoe and accessory label has plenty of surprises in store for Fall/Winter 2016.

They say great shoes take you to great places. A sneaker for exploring a city, a pointed pump for that job interview (that you’re going to ace, obviously), a sexy lace-up stiletto for that hot date, a knee-high boot for a come-what-may night out with the girls. And if that one shoe can take you to more just one great place, then that’s an added bonus. We’re all about double or even triple duty pieces here, and it seems like homegrown shoe and accessory label Charles & Keith is headed in that same direction for Fall/Winter 2016.

Charles & Keith knows how to make everyday shoes, that we all know. And when we say everyday shoes, we mean shoes that can take you from the office to dinner and through to the weekend. You can style them up, you can style them down. The pastel blue loafers above, for example, are surprisingly beach-friendly. I styled them with a cap, denim shirt and white pants for a more weekend look – what can I say, denim’s my big love – but it can easily be incorporated into something dressier like a pantsuit, or something girly like a pastel midi dress for that pastel-on-pastel look.

You shouldn’t shy away from the boldly coloured pairs either. Charles & Keith’s standout style from the collection – a pair of bright red suede ankle boots – is so much easier to work with than you think. I paired it with cropped jeans and a red sweater, but this easily goes with mini skirts, maxi dresses, flare pants…anything really. Don’t let the colour scare you, let it encourage you. And oh my god are these red boots comfortable. During my recent trip to Tokyo, I walked all over Shibuya in them for hours and hours and came out totally fine, sans sore feet.
